Gov. Noem Advances “Freedom Works Here” in Sturgis

PIERRE, S.D. – Governor Noem advanced the “Freedom Works Here” national workforce recruitment campaign this week during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. Governor Noem took the “Freedom Works Here” NASCAR stock car for a spin at the Buffalo Chip. A video of Governor Noem driving the car can be found here.

“The Sturgis Motorcycle Rally attracts people from all over to our great state of South Dakota. This makes it the perfect opportunity to promote ‘Freedom Works Here’,” said Governor Noem. “Folks come to Sturgis to celebrate their Freedom – and this workforce campaign is showing them that they can move to South Dakota and enjoy that kind of Freedom every single day.”

The “Freedom Works Here” ads have been viewed more than 440 million times. 4,527 people have applied to move to South Dakota since the workforce recruitment campaign launched. And 911 individuals are in the final stages of the process.

The most applications have come from California (787), Texas, (319), Florida (314), Minnesota (295), and New York (193). 141 South Dakotans have also used the campaign as a tool to get plugged into career opportunities. A map showing where applicants are from can be found here.

These numbers represent those working directly through the “Freedom Works Here” program. Even more people are finding jobs and moving to South Dakota of their own accord after seeing the ads and checking out the NASCAR stock car at the Buffalo Chip in Sturgis.
