Gov. Daugaard Appoints Pat Pardy As Third Circuit Judge
PIERRE, S.D. – Gov. Dennis Daugaard announced today that he will appoint Pat Pardy as a circuit court judge in South Dakota’s Third Circuit Court in Madison.
“Pat Pardy will be great circuit judge,” said Gov. Daugaard. “He has served our nation and our state in many ways, and I thank him for continuing that service.”
Pardy will fill the vacancy created by the upcoming retirement of Hon. Tim Tucker in June. The Third Circuit includes Beadle, Brookings, Clark, Codington, Deuel, Kingsbury, Grant, Hamlin, Hand, Jerauld, Lake, Miner, Moody and Sanborn counties.
“I am honored that Gov. Daugaard has appointed me as a circuit judge,” said Pardy. “I would like to thank the Governor for his trust and confidence and I look forward to serving the citizens of South Dakota.”
Pardy currently serves as chief legal counsel for the South Dakota Department of Corrections, and as a special assistant attorney general. Prior to that, Pardy worked in private practice in Howard, South Dakota with the firm of Mumford, Protsch & Pardy. In addition to his private practice Pardy was a deputy state’s attorney as well as a public defender. He served for three years as a member of the South Dakota Bar Commission.
A Howard native, Pardy earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of South Dakota in 1992. He is a 1996 graduate of the University of South Dakota School of Law.
Pardy is a member of the South Dakota National Guard, holding the rank of Colonel. He is currently the operation’s officer in the South Dakota Joint Forces Head Quarters. He has served two tours of duty in Afghanistan, earning the Bronze Star and the Combat Action Badge.
Pardy is a member of St. Agatha Catholic Church in Howard. He has been involved in many community organizations and events. He resides in Howard with his wife, Tracy and four children Nick, Kayla, Zach and Tucker.
