Primal Quest: Badlands is a 10-day expedition adventure race consisting of 38 co-ed teams of four racing through 600 miles of the Black Hills National Forest, Badlands National Park and the Buffalo Gap National Grasslands. Primal Quest is known as the world’s most challenging human endurance competition and South Dakota has been honored as the 2009 site for the elite race. In anticipation of the race coming to South Dakota, the 2008 Primal Quest: Montana premier will be held at the Elks Theatre in Rapid City, SD, Wednesday, July 29^th at 7 p.m. The event cost is $5 at the door, it is open to the public and all are welcome. Posters will be given to the first 25 ticket buyers. 

 

WHAT:DVD Premier of Primal Quest: Montana

WHEN: 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 29th, 2009

WHY: With the Montana DVD Premier acting as a kickoff to Primal Quest: Badlands, attending is a great way to show support for the event and for Team South Dakota. The premier event will include a brief presentation on adventure racing, a screening of the 2008 Primal Quest: Montana DVD (in HD), information on how to volunteer for and watch Primal Quest: Badlands and an introduction of Team South Dakota. The audience will have an opportunity to see how extreme a Primal Quest race is, and to gain an understanding of the intense mental and physical training Team South Dakota has committed to in preparation for the race. You’ll also meet the race directors, course designer and the 4-person team representing South Dakota. It is a great opportunity to wish Team South Dakota good luck and to learn how you can support and cheer them on throughout the upcoming race. No host team has ever completed a Primal Quest race before. Support Team South Dakota in their goal of becoming the first home team to cross the finish line.

 

Primal Quest: Badlands begins at 5:30 a.m. on August 14, 2009 and ends at 10:00 a.m.  August 24, 2009. The Million Dollar Challenge program is part of the 2010 Initiative to double visitor spending in South Dakota.
