Asphalt Overlay on Interstate 90 near Piedmont
RAPID CITY, S.D. – South Dakota Department of Transportation officials say westbound traffic on Interstate 90 near Piedmont will be reduced to one lane from about one mile west of Exit 52 to Exit 44 on Monday, May 14, for construction.
Crews will place an asphalt overlay on the existing concrete surface of that section of I-90.
The asphalt overlay project is adjacent to the Exit 52 project, where two-way traffic is being maintained in the westbound lanes of Interstate 90. Travelers can expect a seamless transition between those projects.
On Tuesday, May 15, a 24-hour work shift will begin in the westbound lanes to expedite work through that area. Travelers are advised to take extra caution after dark and can expect workers and lighted equipment adjacent to the lanes of travel.
