Meeting Scheduled for Highway 385 Construction Project

RAPID CITY – The Department of Transportation will hold a public meeting at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday (July 11) at the Deadwood City Hall to discuss the reconstruction of Highway 385 from the Tomahawk Country Club to the intersection of Highway 85. 

The informal meeting will include discussion on the use of larger trucks on Gilt Edge Road. The project’s prime contractor, E.H. Oftedal & Sons, will present a proposal to use larger trucks for hauling waste material to the Gilt Edge Mine. The meeting will allow people the opportunity to ask questions of DOT staff and E.H. Oftedal & Sons staff, and to make comments about the proposal.

The Department is maintaining an informational web page at www.sddot.com under "Construction Projects." The web page is being used to post project information and to receive feedback from the public.
