Prison Escape Attempt Fails

(Pierre) –Three inmates attempted to escape from a maximum-security housing unit of the Jameson Annex of the South Dakota State Penitentiary in Sioux Falls on September 22^nd.

Prison staff detected the escape attempt. None of the inmates involved managed to leave the cellblock.

Special Security staff from the Penitentiary and the Division of Criminal Investigation are conducting a joint investigation of the escape attempt.

More information on the escape attempt will be released as the investigation warrants.
