Name Released in Jackson County Fatal Crash

What:    Single vehicle fatal motorcycle crash
Where:  Interstate 90, mile marker 161, two miles west of Belvidere, SD
When:   4:16 p.m., Tuesday, August 6, 2024

Vehicle 1: 2007 Harley Davidson STC
Driver 1: Ricky Dale Hardin, 64-year-old male from Henry, TN, fatal injuries
Helmet Use: Under investigation

Jackson County, S.D.- A Henry, TN man died Tuesday afternoon in a single vehicle crash on I-90, two miles west of Belvidere, SD.

Preliminary crash information indicates Ricky D. Hardin, the driver of a 2007 Harley Davidson STC, was eastbound on I-90 near mile marker 161 when he left the roadway and entered the median. The motorcycle tripped and began to roll, separating Hardin from the motorcycle. Hardin sustained fatal injuries from the crash.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. All information released so far is only preliminary.

The Highway Patrol is an agency of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
