Polaris Industries Hiring 80 in Spearfish
SPEARFISH – Polaris Industries Inc., announced the company is expanding into Spearfish, S.D., and has purchased a 51,000-square-foot facility to paint its Indian and Victory Motorcycles. The expansion is expected to create 80 jobs in the Black Hills region. The company is currently filling positions for painters, and the plant is expected to be operational in early November.
“I am thrilled that Polaris is expanding its presence in South Dakota with a new paint facility in Spearfish,” said South Dakota Gov. Dennis Daugaard. “Polaris is a great company and offers good jobs with good benefits, so we couldn’t be more pleased to have them expand in the Black Hills.”
Polaris also operates a flagship Parts, Garments and Accessories (PG&A) distribution center in Vermillion which was expanded earlier this year. The company acquired Indian Motorcycle in 2011 and produces the bikes in Spirit Lake, Iowa.
“South Dakota is a natural fit for us. The business climate is strong, and we’re pleased to be able to make a long-term investment in the state. Beyond that, we know that many South Dakota residents enjoy riding our motorcycles, and our riders from all over the world come to South Dakota to celebrate riding at Sturgis. We love bringing more jobs to places where the community embraces the lifestyle,” said Steve Menneto, president of Motorcycles for Polaris Industries Inc.
The new Polaris facility is the former home to Lehman Trikes, which closed in 2012.
“Spearfish Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) is excited to work with and welcome Polaris to Spearfish. It is so important to the economic growth of the community to have the large former Lehman building being utilized to its capacity by a nationally known company,” said Jeremy Hoven, president, SEDC. “Polaris investing in Spearfish and creating 80+ jobs shows how attractive we are as a community.”
