Monday, Sept. 23, 10 a.m. MDT, Belle Fourche, City Hall – Gov. Dennis Daugaard will speak at the grand opening for the Industrial Rail Park and groundbreaking for Permian Tank and Manufacturing's new plant. The event begins at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 23, at the Community Hall. The 10 a.m. program includes comments by the Governor, Mayor Gary Hendrickson, Belle Fourche Development Company President Scott Peterson, Permian Tank chief executive Jon Cohen and vice president Dan Edling. Activities will move to the Permian groundbreaking at the Industrial Rail Park at 11 a.m.
Tuesday, Sept. 24, 1 p.m. MDT, Rapid City, Duke Corning Armory on Camp Rapid – Gov. Dennis Daugaard will speak at the welcome home ceremony for the South Dakota National Guard 1978th Contingency Contracting Team.
Wednesday, Sept. 25, 11 a.m. MDT, Hot Springs, 2500 Minnekahta Ave. – Gov. Dennis Daugaard, Lt. Gov. Matt Michels and Secretary of Veterans Affairs Larry Zimmerman will speak at the Groundbreaking Ceremony for the new Michael J. Fitzmaurice State Veterans Home in Hot Springs.
Friday, Sept. 27, 9:30 a.m. MDT, Custer State Park – Gov. Dennis Daugaard will attend the 48th Annual Buffalo Roundup, which will take place near the corrals along Wildlife Loop Road. Parking areas open at 6:15 a.m. MDT and close at 9 a.m. Spectators will need to decide upon their preferred viewing/parking area prior to Monday morning. Visitors who want to watch from the North viewing area should travel down the Wildlife Loop Road from the State Game Lodge side. Those wishing to view from the South viewing area should travel down the Wildlife Loop Road from the Blue Bell side. The Buffalo Roundup begins at 9:30 a.m. For safety reasons, spectators are asked to remain in the viewing areas until all the buffalo are corralled around noon. Monday, Sept. 23, to Friday, Sept. 27, Rapid City – DENR’s Board of Minerals and Environment will meet to take public comment and hold a contested case hearing on Powertech (USA), Inc.’s application for a large-scale mine permit. The board will meet Monday through Thursday, Sept. 23-26, at the Best Western Ramkota Hotel and Conference Center, Sylvan I and II Room, 2111 N. LaCrosse, Rapid City.
