 Enhancements to ClearPath 511

PIERRE, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Transportation has enhanced the popular ClearPath 511 service available through the www.safetravelusa.com/sd website.

A new feature, just in time for the Sturgis Rally, is the ability to choose the entire “Black Hills Region” as well as individual state highways. Users can keep the default of all roads and road segments in and around the Black Hills, or pick and choose specific segments to fit their needs.

ClearPath 511 is a free service providing alerts on road closures, no-travel advisories, and other significant events and incidents affecting travel. Road closure alerts are automatic, while No-Travel-Advised or Significant Events are optional choices.

Users can choose to receive alerts by email or text messages for specific highway routes, days of the week and times of day fitting their individual needs. Standard text messaging rates apply. To subscribe, go to http://www.safetravelusa.com/sd/cp511/.

In addition to ClearPath 511, the Department of Transportation provides the phone-based 511 traveler information service, the safetravelusa.com web site, and “SDDOT 511” apps for Apple and Android smartphones. All are free and supply the most current information on road conditions, construction work zones, commercial vehicle restrictions and highway incidents.
