Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Set for The SHED at the South Dakota State Fair
HURON, S.D. – The South Dakota State Fair is excited to announce the ribbon cutting ceremony for The SHED on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at 2:00 PM. The ceremony will take place on the South Dakota State Fairgrounds in front of The SHED south of Flag Ave.
"The SHED represents the best of what South Dakota can accomplish when we work together," said Secretary Roberts. “From concept to construction, this facility reflects the commitment our state has to agriculture, education, and our future generations. It’s a place where young people will be inspired and where our agricultural roots will continue to grow.”
The SHED will be home to Open Class Sheep exhibits during the annual State Fair and will serve as a multi-use venue for livestock and equine events year-round. The facility features:
- A 1,320-square-foot indoor educational center focused on agriculture and the sheep industry;
- A livestock capacity for 1,000 sheep;
- A 2,300-square-foot modern show arena complete with bleacher seating; and
- A 30-bay wash rack.
The educational center within The SHED is designed to provide an interactive experience that connects youth and visitors to the history of the sheep industry and South Dakota agriculture.
The public is invited to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony. State Fair gate admission is required.
The 2025 South Dakota State Fair kicks off with Channel Seeds Opening Day on Wednesday, August 27 and runs through Monday, September 1. For more information on Fair events, visit www.sdstatefair.com or follow the Fair on Facebook, Instagram, and X.
