Gov. Rounds Appoints Fourth Circuit Judge
PIERRE, S.D. – Gov. Mike Rounds has appointed Magistrate Judge Randall L. Macy of Deadwood to the Fourth Circuit Court Judgeship.
“Mr. Macy has the qualifications, knowledge and experience necessary for him to serve the citizens of the Fourth Judicial Circuit,” said Gov. Rounds on the appointment.
Judge Macy is a 1977 graduate of Black Hills State University, and a 1984 graduate of the University of South Dakota School of Law in Vermillion, S.D.
After law school, Macy worked as an associate at the law firm of Stephens, Quinn and Buckmaster in Belle Fourche, S.D. In 1989, Wesley Buckmaster and Macy formed a partnership and practiced law together until 2002. Macy engaged in the general practice of law for 19 years where he gained a broad base of legal experience.
In 2002, Macy was appointed as a magistrate judge for the Fourth Judicial Circuit in Northwest South Dakota, and holds that position today.
The Fourth Circuit serves Butte, Corson, Dewey, Harding, Lawrence, Meade, Perkins, and Ziebach Counties.
Macy replaces Judge Timothy R. Johns who resigned as a Circuit Court Judge. Macy will continue to reside in Spearfish and will assume his new duties as soon as he is sworn into office.
