Become a KCBS Certified BBQ Judge or Table Captain

Huron, SD – The Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS) is offering its judging school and table captain class on April 13, 2024, at the Nordby Exhibit Hall on the South Dakota State Fairgrounds. The judging class runs from 10 AM – 2 PM with the table captain class starting at 2:30 PM.

Certified KCBS judges and table captains are needed for the annual Original SD BBQ Championships, a KCBS sanctioned event, held in conjunction with Wheel Jam on the SD State Fairgrounds on June 7-8, 2024.

The classes teach the art and mechanics of judging, and, at the end of the class, participants will be certified judges. Those active or interested in competitive BBQ may also consider taking the class as it teaches participants what the judges look for when judging.

Registration is $115 for the judging school and $60 for the table captain class. To register, go to www.sdbbqchampionships.com or call the State Fair Office at 605.353.7340 for more information.

The deadline to register for the classes is April 3, 2024.
