FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Sioux Falls, SD ( July 29, 2002 ) – In the months following the September 11th "Attack on America", members of Air National Guard units throughout the United States have assumed critical roles in the war on terrorism both at home and abroad. A critical component in the ability for guardmembers to accept these duties is the outstanding support provided to them and their families by Air National Guard Chaplains. During July 30th to August 1st these Chaplains, along with members of their support staffs will gather for their annual conference at the Sioux Falls Convention Center. Convening under the theme of "Ministering to America at War", over 300 participants will share in this special opportunity. Keynote speakers will include: Lieutenant General Russell C. Davis, Chief of the National Guard Bureau; Lieutenant General Daniel James III, Director of the Air National Guard for the United States; and Chaplain (Major General) Lorraine K. Potter, Chief of Chaplains for the United States Air Force. Other presentations will focus upon themes such as: the "View from the Top"; "How We Go to War"; and "When War Goes Wrong". Information and experiences shared throughout the conference will provide a tremendous foundation for the Air National Guard as its units and members continue to meet the challenging tasks that lie ahead in an uncertain future.
