PIERRE, SD -- Professionals who work in out-of-school-time programs are invited to attend Path2Impact(P2I) launch events across South Dakota. The launch events will provide participants with access to more than 350 lesson plans to use in their daily programming.

“Out-of-school-time programs have tremendous impact on our youth. They support the learning that occurs in schools by providing extended opportunities for learning during non-school hours,” said Secretary of Education Joseph Graves. “Through Path2Impact, we’ve been able to create a suite of quality resources and training for the individuals who staff these programs.”

The new resources feature engaging, easy-to-use lessons that are connected to the academic content standards used in South Dakota’s K-12 schools. And they’re free for any program to use.

Through Path2Impact, out-of-school-time programs also will have access to online professional development modules designed to help recruit, onboard, and retain a team committed to serving youth and families.

P2I is a collaborative effort of the South Dakota Department of Education and Black Hills Special Services Cooperative.

The P2I launch events will be held April 2-5 from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in each of these communities:

  • April 2 – Box Elder, The Box Elder Event Center
  • April 3 – Fort Pierre, Drifters
  • April 4 – Aberdeen, Engels Event Co.
  • April 5 – Sioux Falls, Holiday Inn City Centre
