Labor Department to Host Workforce Knowledge Session on Youth Labor Laws

 

PIERRE, S.D. – The Department of Labor and Regulation (DLR) is inviting employers to its next Workforce Knowledge Series session on Youth Labor Laws.

 

This free online event takes place Thursday, May 14, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. CDT/10:30 a.m. MDT via Microsoft Teams.

 

This 30-45-minute session provides an overview of the state and federal laws governing the hiring of youth. It covers the essentials employers need to know to safely and legally bring youth workers onto their teams.

The Workforce Knowledge Series is an ongoing DLR initiative to share expertise on employment topics and provide valuable tools and resources to help businesses address workforce recruitment, retention, and operational challenges.
