Crews set restrictions for 12th Street and Marion Road intersection

SIOUX FALLS, SD – Construction crews working on the 12th Street project in Sioux Falls have set restrictions on travel movements through the 12th Street and Marion Road intersection. The restrictions will help improve traffic flow now that 12th Street traffic is moving head-to-head between Marion Road and Ruth Avenue.

The South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT), working in agreement with the Sioux Falls Police Department, has set up the following restrictions:

  • No right turns are allowed for 12th Street westbound traffic onto northbound Marion Road. A detour route is set up utilizing Valley View Road, 3rd Street and Marion Road.

  • No right turn are allowed for Marion Road southbound traffic onto westbound 12th Street. A detour route is set up utilizing Dardanella Road, Christopher Avenue, Valley View Road and 12th Street.

In addition to the turn restrictions, crews will be working overnight on Sunday, July 23 to finish the surface of the 26th Street on-ramp to northbound I-29. Crews will work from midnight through 5:00 a.m. to minimize the impact to traffic.

Also, on Monday, July 24, 12th Street traffic wishing to access northbound Ebenezer Avenue will need to use the intersection at Petro Street and route back to Ebenezer Avenue. This movement will be in effect for one day only.
