What:   Two Vehicle, Triple Fatal Crash

When:  12:55 p.m. June 29, 2012

Where:  Intersection of SD 79 and SD 40, Hermosa, SD

Who:  Vehicle 1 Driver: Lawrence E. Menis, age 61, Livingston TX, minor injuries

                      Passenger: Lynda L. Menis, age 66, Livingston TX, minor injuries

            Vehicle 2 Driver: Adrienne L White Bull, age 40, Porcupine, SD, fatal injuries

                     Passenger 1: Darwin Two Bulls, age 52, Hermosa, SD, fatal injuries

                     Passenger 2: Steven White Magpie, age 40, Pine Ridge, SD, fatal injuries

                     Passenger 3: Harold Bettelyoun, age 39, Martin, SD, life threatening injuries

Vehicle(s): Vehicle 1: 2011 GMC pickup

                       Vehicle 2: 1997 Buick Park Avenue

Description:

A 2011 GMC pickup towing an RV, driven by Lawrence Menis, was traveling north on SD 79. A 1997 Buick Park Avenue, driven by Adrienne White Bull, was attempting to cross SD 79 from the Flying J Truck Stop to proceed east onto SD 40.  The pickup struck the Buick when it failed to yield as it crossed SD 79. Adrienne White Bull, Darwin Two Bulls, and Steven White Magpie were pronounced dead at the scene. Harold Bettelyoun was flown to Rapid City Regional Hospital with life threatening injuries. Lawrence and Lynda Menis received minor injuries. The crash remains under investigation.
