Spearfish Canyon closed tomorrow for blasting
SPEARFISH, S.D. – Spearfish Canyon will be closed during daylight hours tomorrow (Feb. 1) beginning at 8 a.m. as crews continue blasting operations to remove excess rock. The roadway will reopen later in the evening when debris has been removed from the roadway.
More information on the weekend’s closing schedule will be available tomorrow.
For the most current information, motorists should continue to call (605) 641-5446 or tune to radio station AM 1670. Due to spotty radio reception, residents above Bridal Veil Falls are encouraged to call the phone line for information. Signs will also be placed at both ends of Spearfish Canyon notifying motorists of any closures.
Travelers are encouraged to utilize Exit 17 and Highway 85 through Lead and Deadwood to access points in Spearfish Canyon above Bridal Veil Falls during the closures. Businesses located in Spearfish Canyon will not be affected by the work.
