Gov. Noem to Sign Bill to Recognize Out-of-State Licenses in Sioux Falls
PIERRE, S.D. – On Wednesday morning, Governor Kristi Noem will sign SB 76, which will recognize out-of-state licenses for nearly every profession in South Dakota. This legislation will help tackle South Dakota’s workforce challenges by making it easier for employers to hire individuals who move here with the skills and qualifications to work in licensed professions. The prime sponsors of the legislation are Sen. Jim Stalzer and Rep. Tyler Tordsen, both of Sioux Falls.
The bill signing will take place at 9:30 am CT on Wednesday, March 1 at Midwestern Mechanical in Sioux Falls. Media is welcome to attend the bill signing.
Today, there are approximately 900 job openings in professions impacted by this legislation. Nearly 4,000 jobs are expected to be needed in these professions each year through 2030. The professions with the highest need include accountants and auditors, elementary school teachers, electricians, secondary school teachers, and plumbers.
