SOUTH DAKOTA MOVES FORWARD UNDER NEW BROADBAND GUIDANCE

PIERRE, S.D. – South Dakota is moving forward under updated federal guidance for the Broadband, Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) program, which supports broadband expansion efforts across the country.

The National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) recently issued updated guidance requiring states to evaluate broadband solutions in a technology-neutral manner. In response, South Dakota is requesting that all Unlicensed Fixed Wireless (ULFW) providers notify the state if they currently serve any BEAD Serviceable Locations (BSLs) that are listed as BEAD eligible.

The full public notice, including details on how to respond, is available on the GOED website. Responses must be submitted by 11:59 a.m. Central Time on June 24, 2025.
