Lyon Elected to Executive Board of International Economic Development Council
Pierre, SD - Bruce W. Lyon, senior project manager with the Governor’s Office of Economic Development, was appointed as one of 13 members to the executive committee of the International Economic Development Council (IEDC). Lyon was also elected to a second term on the IEDC’s Board of Directors.
"The International Economic Development Council is the world's leading economic development organization for professionals working in the field of economic development," says newly-elected chair Steven J. Budd. "Service on this board is an honor and I look forward to working with Mr. Lyon and the other members to provide leadership to IEDC as the organization continues to offer quality information and outstanding development opportunities."
Tina Van Camp, director, Governor’s Office of Economic Development, said having Lyon on the IEDC executive board is good for South Dakota. “His presence on the board gives South Dakota, and really all of rural America, a voice in guiding the leading development organization as it moves to expand services and support for the development profession,” she said.
Lyon has been a lifetime resident of South Dakota and from 1977 to the present, he has been associated with the development industry. As a realtor with Coldwell Banker in Rapid City, SD to working with the Governor's Office of Economic Development, he has been involved in all phases of development. Lyon is a 1998 graduate of the Economic Development Institute, and he received his CED (CEcD) designation in 1999.
IEDC is dedicated to helping economic development professionals improve the quality of life in their communities. With more than 4,000 members it represents all levels of government, academia, and private industry.
