                Harding County Fatal Crash

 What: Two-vehicle fatal crash

Where: US Highway 85, two miles south of Ludlow, SD

When: Sunday, Nov. 20, 2011, 5:30 p.m.

Driver 1: Winchester Robert Wearden, 34, Austin, TX, minor injuries

Vehicle 1: 2004 Toyota Tundra

Driver 2: Samantha Lynn Vogel, 21, Lincoln, ND, fatal

Passenger 1: Judith Ann Hampton, 61, Newcastle, WY, fatal

Vehicle 2: 2000 Chevrolet Impala

LUDLOW, S.D. – Two people died in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 85 about two miles south of Ludlow, S.D., in Harding County on Sunday, Nov. 20.

 Samantha Lynn Vogel, 21, of Lincoln, N.D., and Judith Ann Hampton, 61, of Newcastle, Wyo., were killed when the 2000 Chevrolet Impala that Vogel was driving was struck by a 2004 Toyota Tundra. Winchester Robert Wearden, 34, of Austin, Texas, the driver of the Toyota, suffered minor injuries.

 The exact cause of the crash is still being investigated. All occupants were wearing seatbelts.

 The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating. Harding County Sheriff’s Office, Ludlow Fire Department, Buffalo Ambulance, Bowman, N.D., Fire Department and Bowman Ambulance assisted.

 No further information is available at this time.
