Driver 1: Alejandro Reyes, 28, Aberdeen, SD, minor injuries
Vehicle 1: 2006 Dodge Charger


Driver 2: Mark Miller, 27, Aberdeen, SD, Serious Non-life Threatening
Vehicle 2: 2009 Dodge Charger
Passenger of Vehicle 2:  Ashley Elliot, 21, Aberdeen, SD, Serious Non-Life Threatening.


ABERDEEN, S.D.- A crash between two Aberdeen PD patrol cars caused injuries to three people on Sunday morning, March 18 at the intersection 7th Avenue Southeast and South Washington Street in the City of Aberdeen.

Alejandro Reyes, 28, Aberdeen, SD, was driving a 2006 Dodge Charger.   He was traveling northbound on South Washington  Street crossing 7th Avenue in Aberdeen Reyes was responding to assist another officer with a fleeing suspect. 

Matt Miller, 27, Aberdeen, SD, was driving a 2009 Dodge Charger. He was traveling eastbound on 7th Avenue  crossing Washington Street in Aberdeen.  Miller was also responding to assist with the fleeing suspect. The vehicles  collided with the front of Reyes' 2006 Charger striking the passenger side of Miller's 2009 Charger.  The vehicles both  traveled off the roadway and both came to rest against an apartment complex.  The passenger in Miller's  2009 Charger, Ashley Elliot, 21, had to be extricated using the jaws of life. 

All three people involved were transported by ambulance to Avera St. Lukes in Aberdeen. 

Alcohol was not a factor in the accident.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating. Brown County Sheriff's Office and the Aberdeen Police Department assisted.

The accident remains under investigation.
