Fatal Crashes:
Kenneth E. Dahn, 61, of Keystone, S.D., was driving a 2006 Chevy Silverado, east on Madill St. in Keystone. He left the roadway toward a bridge, drove up the concrete rail and rolled the vehicle into the creek below causing the vehicle to come to rest on its roof. Dahn was transported to a hospital in Rapid City and died from injuries sustained in the crash.
Injury Crashes:
Randall R. Bradley, 58, of Fairfield, Neb., was driving a 2005 Harley Davidson FLSTFI south on S.D. Highway 87 three miles south of the U.S. 16A and S.D. Highway 87 intersection. He failed to negotiate a left hand turn and entered the ditch on the north side of the road. Bradley’s motorcycle tipped over and he was pinned underneath it. He was transported to a hospital in Custer with serious non-life threatening injuries. Bradley was wearing a helmet.

Fay Joy Wiesner, 48, of Watertown, S.D., was driving a 2004 Harley Davidson FLHRCI north on Rochford Rd., in Rochford, S.D. She locked up the rear brakes which caused her to lose control of the motorcycle and lay it down on its side. She was not wearing a helmet and was flown to a hospital in Rapid City with life threatening injuries.

Brandon Scott Hoover, 28, of Bismarck, N.D., was driving a 2003 Harley Davidson FX3 east on Nemo Rd., east of Nemo, S.D. He lost control of his motorcycle as he was slowing down and laid the motorcycle down. Scott’s passenger, Monica Jo Hoover, 27, of Bismarck, was separated from the motorcycle and sustained serious non-life threatening injuries. She was not wearing a helmet and was flown to a hospital in Rapid City. Brandon Hoover was not wearing a helmet and received minor injuries in the crash.

Karen R. Hawkinson, 54, of Tioga, N.D., was driving a 2011 Harley Davidson Heritage Softail north on Norris Peak Road. She drifted into the east ditch and allowed the motorcycle to naturally slow in the grassy ditch. As she attempted to re-enter the roadway, Hawkinson’s motorcycle failed to crest the edge of the pavement and the motorcycle tipped over throwing her from it. She was not wearing a helmet and was flown to a hospital in Rapid City with serious non-life threatening injuries.

Daniel Ray McCaman, 57, of Smyrna, Tenn., was driving a 2003 Harley Davidson FLH east and descending down a hill on Ridge Rd. He lost traction on the gravel road which was muddy in spots, left the roadway and spun out and tipped over as he attempted to re-enter the roadway. McCaman’s passenger, Robbie Sue McCaman, 50, of Smyrna, sustained serious non-life threatening injuries in the crash and was transported to a hospital in Spearfish, S.D. Daniel McCaman was not injured in the crash. They were both wearing helmets.
Other Noteworthy Items:
A vehicle was stopped on Interstate 90 in Sturgis, S.D., for an equipment violation. A search revealed a personal defense tools including a stun gun and knife and methamphetamine. The vehicle was seized and is pending forfeiture through the Attorney General’s Office.
