Gov. Rounds asks that all flags fly at half staff to honor fallen soldier
 
PIERRE, S.D. - Gov. Mike Rounds today is asking that all flags in the state be flown at half staff on Friday, July 11, from 8 a.m. until sunset in honor of Spc. Estell L. Turner, 43, of Sioux Falls, S.D., who died Wednesday, July 2, at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md.
 
Turner was a motor transport operator assigned to Echo Company, 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky.  He died of wounds sustained when his vehicle encountered an improvised explosive device on June 28 in Malikheyl, Afghanistan.
 
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. (EDT) on Friday, July 11, at Watts Funeral Home in Jackson, Ky., with burial and full military honors at 3 p.m. (EDT) at Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Nicholasville, Ky.
