Roberts County Fatal Crash
What: One-vehicle crash
Where: Roberts County Highway 28, 8 ½ miles south of Sisseton, S.D.
When: 6:35 a.m., Sunday, March 27, 2016
Occupants: Male, 16, Waubay, S.D., Serious Non-Life Threatening Injuries
Female, 17, Minneapolis, MN, Serious Non-Life Threatening Injuries
Male, 18, Waubay, S.D., Fatal
Vehicle: 2005 Honda Accord
SISSETON, S.D. – An 18-year-old male from Waubay, S.D. died early Sunday morning in a one-vehicle crash near Sisseton, S.D.
Two other occupants both received serious non-life threatening injuries. The names of the people involved are not being released pending notification of family members.
A 2005 Honda Accord was northbound on Roberts County Highway 28 when the driver lost control of the vehicle which went into the ditch and rolled.
The 18-year-old victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The other two occupants, a male, age 16, and a female, age 17, were both eventually transferred to a hospital in Fargo, N.D.
No other information is available at this time.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol continues to investigate. Other agencies at the scene were the Roberts County Sheriff’s Office, the Sisseton-Wahpeton Tribal Police Department and Grant-Roberts Ambulance.
The Highway Patrol is part of the state Department of Public Safety.
