           Minnehaha County Fatal Crash

 

What: Two-vehicle fatal crash

When: Saturday, June 30, 2012, 1:37 p.m.

Where: 26240 463rd Avenue, four miles south of Hartford, SD

 

Driver 1: Adam Ronald Thielbar, 32, Greer, SC, no injuries

Vehicle 1: 2002 Chrysler Town and Country van

 

Driver 2: Jason Daniel Lohr, 40, Tea, SD, life-threatening injuries

Passenger 1: Jill Marie Schwartz, 36, Sioux City, IA, fatal

Vehicle 2: 2000 Harley Davidson FXD

 

HARTFORD, S.D. An Iowa woman has died of injuries suffered on Saturday, June 30, in a two-vehicle crash on 463rd Avenue south of Hartford.

 

Jill Marie Schwartz, 36, of Sioux City, was the passenger on a 2000 Harley Davidson motorcycle involved in a crash with a 2002 Chrysler Town and Country van. Jason Daniel Lohr, 40, of Tea, S.D., was driving the motorcycle.

 

Lohr and Schwartz were traveling northbound on 463rd Avenue. Adam Ronald Thielbar, 32, of Greer, S.C., was driving the Chrysler van southbound and was stopped to make a left turn. The motorcycle struck the left front of the van, which was in the motorcycle’s lane of travel.

 

Schwartz and Lohr were taken to a Sioux Falls hospital with life-threatening injuries. Schwartz died on Monday of her injuries. Neither rider was wearing a helmet.

 

Thielbar and two minor passengers were uninjured. They were wearing seatbelts.

 

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating. Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office and Hartford Fire and Rescue assisted.
