Sheyenne Dakota, Inc. to Bring Jobs to De Smet 

PIERRE, S.D. – Sheyenne Dakota, Inc. (SDI), a West Fargo based wire and cable harness manufacturer, will be expanding into South Dakota with a new location in De Smet.

The expansion is expected to create 30 jobs over the next three years. Based upon 2010 populations, the addition of 30 jobs in De Smet is the equivalent 4,239 jobs in Sioux Falls.[SA1] 

The Governor’s Office of Economic Development worked closely with SDI throughout the site selection process.

SDI will be utilizing a building that De Smet constructed in 2009 with the hope of spurring local economic development by attracting a new business. 

 “Sheyenne Dakota, Inc. is a perfect match for De Smet and exactly the type of company we were looking for when we constructed our 10,000 square-foot spec building in 2009,” said Rita Anderson, director, De Smet Development Corporation. “SDI will be an integral part of De Smet, and we appreciate the great support that the South Dakota Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) has given us in bringing the company to De Smet.”

“Community development is vital to the economic development of South Dakota,” said Gov. Dennis Daugaard. “I commend De Smet for being proactive and generating this opportunity for community growth. Sheyenne Dakota, Inc. will be a valuable addition to De Smet.”

“When we decided to expand, we were looking for a small to mid-size community that could offer us a ready workforce,” said Dave Ingalsbe, CEO of SDI.  “De Smet met our needs and was able to provide a building as well. The community seems to take an aggressive approach to economic development and has been very helpful throughout.”

SDI is expected to begin operations in De Smet by early September. Hiring has started and interested applicants can apply by contacting the Brookings regional South Dakota Department of Labor and Regulation office at 605-688-4350, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
