Secretary of Corrections Kellie Wasko announced today that Tabatha Benting has been appointed as the new Warden of the Jameson Prison in Sioux Falls.
“I am very proud of Warden Benting as she has provided integral leadership to the Jameson Annex over the last six months,” said Secretary of Corrections Kellie Wasko. “I look forward to her future with the SDDOC.”
Benting brings more than 19 years of experience with the South Dakota Department of Corrections, having served in a wide range of leadership and operational roles. Her career has included positions as correctional officer, corporal, sergeant, lieutenant, captain, and major at both the South Dakota State Penitentiary and the Jameson Prison.
"I’m excited to continue working alongside our team to enhance safety and security for staff, those in our care, and the community,“ said Benting.
Most recently, Benting served as both Associate Warden and Interim Warden at the Jameson facility, demonstrating a strong track record of leadership and dedication to the department’s mission.
Benting was born and raised in South Dakota and has lived here for the entirety of her adult life. She and her husband are the parents of five children.
