Labor Department Providing Virtual Layoff Assistance Session

 

PIERRE, S.D. – The Department of Labor and Regulation is providing a virtual layoff assistance resource session on Tuesday, April 1 at 12 p.m. CDT/11 a.m. MDT via Microsoft Teams.

 

This free session is intended for individuals who have been laid off and are seeking assistance getting back into the workforce.

 

Guidance will be provided on the process to apply for reemployment assistance benefits and what to do after filing a claim. Resources on finding new employment, developing additional job skills, and locating training and education opportunities will also be shared.

South Dakota currently has over 19,000 job openings and an unemployment rate of 1.9%, the lowest in the nation.
