ROSHOLT, S.D. – Cole Richotte, 26, Sisseton, S.D., has been identified as the person who died Friday night in a car-pickup crash west of Rosholt.
Richotte was driving a 1998 Buick Intrigue that was stopped on 468th Avenue at the intersection of South Dakota Highway 127. A 2012 Ford F350 pickup pulling a camper was westbound on South Dakota Highway 127 approaching the intersection.
The Buick Intrigue turned in front of the pickup and the two vehicles collided. Both vehicles went into the ditch and the pickup rolled.
Richotte later died of his injuries. It is unknown if he was wearing a seatbelt.
The pickup driver, Joseph Fritz, 38, and one female passenger, 10, sustained minor injuries. All three occupants of the pickup, who were transported to a Sisseton hospital, were wearing seatbelts. All three are from Rosholt, S.D. Because they are minors, the names of the two female passengers are not being released.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Other agencies on the scene were the Roberts County Sheriff’s Office, Rosholt Police Department, Rosholt Fire Department, New Effington Fire Department, Northeast Ambulance, Grants-Roberts Ambulance and Sisseton Wahpeton Tribal Police.
