Board Approves Black Hills State M.S. in Integrative Genomics Participation in Student Exchange Program

ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Board of Regents approved an agreement that will allow Black Hills State University’s masters of science in integrative genomics to become part of the Western Regional Graduate Program (WRGP) operated by the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE).

WRGP makes many high-quality graduate programs available at a reasonable cost to students in 14 western states by charging them resident tuition rates.  These programs are designed around the educational, social, and economic needs of the area.

In addition to South Dakota, states participating in WRGP are: Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.

“Specialized programs such as the master of science in integrative genomics are not always enrolled to full capacity.  The acceptance of this degree into the WRGP allows for recruitment of out-of-state students to help offset some of the cost involved in offering this degree,” said Regents President Harvey C. Jewett.  “Participation will have a positive effect on the degree program.”

Programs are admitted into the WRGP every two years.
