Chip Seal Projects in the Sioux Falls Area

 

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT) says chip seals will be applied to several highways in the Sioux Falls area of the state beginning on July 18, 2011.

 

The contractor will move from one project to the next in the following order:

 

1.      I-90 – 6.9 miles, westbound lane shoulder from one mile east of Interstate 29 to Exit 390 (Buffalo Ridge) on Monday, July 18 and take approximately one day to complete.

2.      I-90 – 3.9 miles, eastbound lane shoulder from one mile east of Interstate 29 to Exit 390 (Buffalo Ridge) on Tuesday, July 19and take approximately one day to complete.

3.      S.D. 19 – 9.8 miles, from Parker to the Junction of S.D. 42 and take approximately two days to complete.

4.      U.S. 18 – 14.2 miles, from Interstate 29 to the Junction of S.D. 19 and take approximately three days to complete.

5.      S.D. 115 – 9.0 miles, from the Junction of U.S. 18 to the Harrisburg Corner and take approximately three days to complete.

 

Traffic will be reduced to one lane and guided through each project with the use of flaggers and a pilot car, except on the Interstate where just flaggers will be used. The permanent pavement marking is scheduled to be applied within 14 days of completion of the chip seal projects.

 

McLaughlin and Schultz of Marshall, Minnesota is the prime contractor. Total project cost is $813,606.28.
