S&P Reaffirms South Dakota’s AAA Credit Rating
PIERRE, S.D. – Today, S&P Global Rating reaffirmed South Dakota’s AAA credit rating, and Governor Larry Rhoden celebrated this great news.
“South Dakota remains a leader among the nation – and our AAA credit rating is yet another sign of our strong, thriving economy,” said Governor Larry Rhoden. “My Administration will continue to manage taxpayer dollars wisely and preserve our state’s financial strength, so we leave a solid foundation for future generations.”
S&P highlighted South Dakota’s consistently balanced budgets and stable financial performance as key factors in our state’s success.
“S&P Global Ratings affirmed its 'AAA' issuer credit rating (ICR) on the State of South Dakota,” wrote S&P Global Ratings. “The stable outlook reflects our view of the state's focus on structural budgetary alignment, as evident in consistent operating surpluses and enactment of balanced budgets.”
South Dakota’s rating outlook remains stable. Our fiscal conservatism, commonsense regulatory policies, and record low unemployment rates will ensure South Dakota’s economic success continues for generations to come.
