Campus Community Representatives Appointed
for Presidential Search at SDSU
 
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Eleven people have been appointed by the South Dakota Board of Regents to serve as campus community representatives on the South Dakota State University Presidential Search and Screen Committee.
 
“These people will offer us valuable input as the search commences to find the next president for South Dakota State University,” said Regent Terry Baloun, who chairs the search. Other regents serving on the search committee are Carole Pagones, Dean Krogman, Tony Venhuizen, and Board President Harvey Jewett, serving as ex officio member.
 
Named as campus community representatives and the constituencies they represent are:
  • Community – Al Kurtenbach, co-founder and board chairman, Daktronics Inc.
  • SDSU Foundation – Jerry Lohr, president of J. Lohr Properties and the J. Lohr Winery, San Jose, Calif.
  • Alumni – Dana Dykhouse, president and chief executive officer of First Premier Bank, Sioux Falls
  • Executive Team – Mary Kay Helling, associate vice president for academic affairs
  • Career Service Employees – Mary Kidwiler, program assistant for the Office of Academic Programs, College of Agriculture and Biological Sciences
  • Non-Faculty Exempt Employees – Jeri Kurtz, director of institutional research
  • Faculty – Joel Hefling, assistant professor and director of forensics, Department of Communication Studies & Theatre; Mike Hildreth, professor of biology/microbiology and veterinary science
  • Students – Alex Halbach, political science and economics junior; Stephanie Chase, political science junior
  • Institutional Collaboration – Doug Knowlton, president of Dakota State University
 
Working with the search committee will be Robert T. Tad Perry, executive director of the Board
of Regents, and Mary Turman, the board’s executive assistant. Elaine H. Hairston of Academic Search Consultation Service is a consultant to the committee and regents in the search process.
 
Peggy Miller, president of South Dakota State University since 1998, recently announced plans to retire at the end of 2006.
