Name Released in Lake County Fatal Crash

Where: 225th Street, east of U.S. Highway 81
10 miles north of Madison, S.D.
When: 3:27 p.m., Sunday, May 7, 2017
Driver: Calvin Jaton, 85, Nunda, S.D., Fatal Injuries
Vehicle: 1997 Ford F150 Pickup
MADISON, S.D. – Authorities have released the name of an 85-year-old man who died Sunday afternoon in a one-vehicle crash north of Madison.
Calvin Jaton of Nunda, S.D., was driving a 1997 Ford F150 pickup eastbound on 225th Street, which is a gravel road, when he lost control. The vehicle went into the ditch and rolled onto its top.
Jaton, who was the only occupant, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Other agencies on scene were the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, Wentworth Fire Department, Madison Fire Department and Madison Ambulance.
The Highway Patrol is part of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
