US 281 to Open

HURON – The South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT) plans to open twelve miles of US 281 from three miles north of Wolsey at the junction of US 14 and US 281 to SD 28 on Thursday, November 25.

The road has been closed throughout the summer as crews worked to rebuild that section of highway.  There will be a temporary gravel surface over the winter. Crews will place a permanent asphalt surface on that segment next summer.

Loiseau Construction of Flandreau, SD is the prime contractor on the $4.8 million project.
