Brookings County Fatal Crash
What: Two-vehicle injury crash
When: Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010, 1:50 p.m.
Where: 459th Avenue and 207th Street, one north and five east of Arlington, SD
Driver 1: Sylvia D. Fryer, 66, Bruce, SD, fatal
Vehicle 1: 1991 Ford Ranger
Driver 2: Mitchell Loban, 23, Bruce, SD, minor injuries
Vehicle 2: 2008 GMC Sierra
ARLINGTON, S.D. – A Bruce, S.D., woman died in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon north and east of Arlington.
Sylvia D. Fryer, 66, was driving a 1991 Ford Ranger north on 459th Avenue. Mitchell Loban, 23, also of Bruce, was driving a 20008 GMC Sierra. Loban stopped at the intersection of 459th and 207th Street, and then proceeded across the highway. Fryer’s vehicle collided with the side of Loban’s vehicle. Neither driver was wearing a seatbelt.
Fryer was dead at the scene. Loban was taken to a Brookings hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating. The Brookings Sheriff’s Office assisted.
