Railroad Crossings To Be Upgraded Near Lesterville and Tripp

 

YANKTON, S.D. – Two railroad crossings over state highways are set to be upgraded over the next few weeks near Lesterville and Tripp, according to the South Dakota Department of Transportation.

 

Burlington Northern & Santa Fe Railroad crews are scheduled to upgrade the crossing on state Highway 45 northwest of Lesterville beginning Monday, July 16, and upgrade the crossing on Highway 18 beginning Monday, July 23.

 

The crossing surface will be removed and replaced with new concrete planks; it will take five days to complete each one.

 

Highway 46 traffic will be detoured around the work onto Menno Road – a Yankton-Bon Homme County road two miles north of Highway 46 and east of Highway 25.

 

Highway 18 traffic will be detoured on the county road just east of the crossing. Traffic will travel north two miles and west one mile to Highway 37.
