More Articulation Agreements Inked with Technical Institutes
SPEARFISH, S.D. – The South Dakota Board of Regents has signed off on another 10 articulation agreements between the state’s public universities and three technical institutes. A total of 80 agreements are now final, after regents and tech school officials announced a cooperative arrangement early this year.
The agreements spell out what technical school coursework will transfer to the universities in certain academic programs. Nine of the agreements approved by the regents Friday pertain to transfer of computer-related courses between Dakota State University and Lake Area Technical Institute. A 10th agreement is between South Dakota State University and Mitchell Technical Institute in electronics engineering technology.
“We have come a very long way in a relatively short time,” said Regents President Harvey C. Jewett. “These agreed-to course transfers will give technical students more options for pursuing higher education at a four-year public institution or beyond.”
In total, agreements have been reached on 50 programs at Lake Area Technical Institute in Watertown, 17 at Western Dakota Technical Institute in Rapid City, and 13 at Mitchell Technical Institute. A fourth technical institute, Southeast Tech at Sioux Falls, is not part of the transfer arrangements.
