South Dakota State Fair Receives International Association of Fairs and Expositions Award at 2004 Convention!

(HURON, SD)- The South Dakota State Fair received the top Communication’s Award for Division II - Outstanding Newspaper Ad in black and white at the International Association of Fairs and Expositions Convention in Las Vegas- November 29-December 2, 2004.

The award was part of the Hall of Honor Communications Awards presented by the IAFE and sponsored by K & K Insurance®. There were 104 fairs entered in the Hall of Honor Communications Awards competition, with over 700 entries. The South Dakota State Fair won in Division II: Outstanding Newspaper Ad – Black and White. Division II consisted of Fairs with attendance of 100,001 to 250,000. The South Dakota State Fair was one of the seventeen entries in this division. The division was judged by the IAFE Advertising Promotion and Public Relations Committee. 

"We were so excited to have been selected for this prestigious award. The South Dakota State Fair had an exceptional overall ad campaign which was themed "My Fair’s The State Fair" and featured everyday farm animals," said Susan Hayward, manager of the South Dakota State Fair. "We were extremely happy with the success we had with the advertising and promotion for the 2004 Fair."

The print ad campaign was created by G.F. Advertising Services of Mitchell, South Dakota. 

State Fair manager, Susan Hayward, accepted the award at the IAFE Awards Banquet held December 2. 

The 2005 South Dakota State Fair will be held September 3-10.
