Exciting Activities Available at SD Outdoor Expo
HURON, S.D. – Have you ever wanted to learn how to handle a kayak or shoot a bow and arrow? The South Dakota Outdoor Expo, coming to the State Fairgrounds in Huron June 13-14, is the perfect opportunity to experience these and nearly 100 other outdoor activities.
Admission to the SD Outdoor Expo is free for all attendees.
Activities are grouped into five areas: Camping and Outdoor Recreation (presented by Spader’s RV Center), Fishing and Aquatic Education, Hunting and Wildlife, Shooting Sports, and Wildlife Management.
Several popular activities returning from last year include: kayaking, archery, building bird feeders, shooting sports, mock pheasant hunting, dog demonstrations, tree stand safety, gold panning, Dutch oven cooking, cowboy fast draw, turkey calling, fly fishing and many others.
In addition to these activities, featured programs include Live Birds of Prey and Live Bat Encounters. A team from the PBS series “Nature Adventures” will also present a fascinating series of demonstrations about South Dakota and its creatures. The South Dakota Department of Game, Fish and Parks will also be on hand to provide information about our state parks and hunting and fishing licenses.
Sponsors that help make the SD Outdoor Expo possible include: Spader’s RV Center, Scheels, SD Parks & Wildlife Foundation, SD Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation, Cabela’s, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Jack’s Campers, Wildlife Protection, Inc., Prostrollo Motor Sales, the Weatherby Foundation, the SD Office of Tourism, the SD Department of Game, Fish and Parks, Pepsi, Modern Woodmen of America, the Strassman Fund, Pheasant Phun, Jack Link’s, and the Varmint Hunters Association.
