Miss South Dakota State Fair Pageant Returns to State Fair

HURON, S.D. - The 2010 South Dakota State Fair will celebrate the crowning of a new Miss South Dakota State Fair and Miss Mural City at the State Fairgrounds in Huron. 

The Miss South Dakota State Fair Pageant will be held on the Dakotaland stage at 2 p.m. CDT on Monday, Sept. 6.  The pageant, a preliminary to the Miss South Dakota program, is open to young women ages 17 to 24. Two titles will be awarded at the pageant – Miss South Dakota State Fair and Miss Mural City.

A teen competition will also be held during the pageant. The Miss South Dakota Outstanding Teen contest is open to young ladies between 13 and 17 years old.

Former title holders are invited to help celebrate the special anniversary of the South Dakota State Fair by attending the pageant. This year marks the quasquicentennial (125^th anniversary) of the State Fair.

"The Miss South Dakota State Fair Pageant is a tradition at the Fair and we are excited to be brining it back for our 125th anniversary," said Jerome Hertel, State Fair Manager.

The Miss South Dakota State Fair Pageant was last held in 2008.
