Highway Patrol Drug Bust: Cocaine, Meth

On Friday, Sept. 28, the South Dakota Highway Patrol discovered 12 pounds of crystal meth and 10 kilos (just over 22 pounds) of cocaine.

The drug bust happened around 12:30 p.m. on Interstate 90 just east of Chamberlain. A South Dakota Highway Patrol trooper stopped a car for a traffic violation. During the stop, a drug dog was deployed and discovered the drugs in a false compartment of the vehicle.

The driver, Arnulfo Olide Felix, and his passenger, Jorge Hernandez Mora, are both from Mexico. The two men were both charged with possession of cocaine, possession of methamphetamine, and intent to distribute a controlled substance.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol, the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement continue to investigate the incident.
