Travel conditions continue to deteriorate across most of eastern South Dakota. The Departments of Public Safety and Transportation strongly encourage travelers to watch the weather conditions closely and if possible, delay travel until the storm passes.
When a road is closed it is illegal to travel in that area. Violation is a Class 2 misdemeanor, and motorists can be fined. In addition, if travelers need to be rescued from a closed road, other expenses and penalties will apply.
For up-to-date road conditions, travelers are encouraged to call 511 or visit safetravelusa.com. For the latest weather forecast and warning information, visit www.weather.gov.
