Spink County fatal crash
REDFIELD, S.D. – A 34-year-old Redfield man died in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 212 a mile east of Redfield on the morning of New Year’s Day.
Gregory Green was killed when he was crossing U.S. 212 in a 1979 Ford F-150 pickup. The vehicle was struck in the eastbound lane by an eastbound 2005 GMC Envoy driven by Russell Battey of Redfield. Both vehicles came to rest in the southeast ditch of the roadway.
Battey and a passenger, Marilyn Battey, were hospitalized with serious, non-life threatening injuries.
The crash is being investigated by the South Dakota Highway Patrol.
The Spink County Sheriff’s Office, Spink County Emergency Management, Redfield Ambulance, Redfield Fire and Rescue assisted.
