What: Fatal motorcycle crash

When: Sunday, June 20, 2010, about 1:38 p.m.

Where: U.S. Highway 85, four-tenths of a mile south of Ludlow, SD

Driver 1: Kim Knudson, 43, Williston, ND, minor injuries

Passenger: Lisa A. Knudson, 42, Williston, ND, fatal

Vehicle: 2000 Harley Davidson motorcycle

 

Driver 2: Lance Solberg, 37, Velva, ND, minor injuries

Vehicle 2: 1988 Harley Davidson motorcycle

 

LUDLOW, S.D. – A 42-year-old North Dakota woman died early Sunday afternoon in a motorcycle crash on U.S. Highway 85 just south of Ludlow.

 

Lisa A. Knudson of Williston, N.D., was the passenger on a 2000 Harley Davidson driven by Kim Knudson, 43, also of Williston. Kim Knudson suffered minor injuries.

 

The motorcycle they were riding lost control in a construction area, and the driver and passenger were thrown from the vehicle. Lance Solberg, 27, of Velva, N.D., was driving a 1988 Harley Davidson behind them. He tried to avoid the first motorcycle, but his bike hit Lisa Knudson. Solberg suffered minor injuries.

 

None of the riders were wearing helmets.

 

The South Dakota Highway Patrol investigated the crash. Harding County Sheriff, Harding County Ambulance, Bowman, N.D., Fire Department and Bowman, N.D., Ambulance assisted.
