      State Trooper Injured in Interstate 229 Crash

Driver 1: Dave Knutson, 35, Tea, SD, minor injuries
Vehicle 1: 2006 Ford Crown Victoria
 
Driver 2: Rose Louise Herberg, 25, Sioux Falls, no injuries
Vehicle 2: 2000 Pontiac Bonneville
 
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – A South Dakota Highway Patrol trooper suffered minor injuries Monday morning when his vehicle was hit by a car that lost control on an icy section of Interstate 229 in Sioux Falls.
 
Trooper Dave Knutson, 35, of Tea, S.D., was parked on the southbound side of I-229 interviewing the driver of a vehicle involved in an earlier crash near the 26th Street interchange. A southbound 2000 Pontiac Bonneville slid sideways and struck the rear of Trooper Knutson’s vehicle and then the front driver-side fender.
 
Rose Louise Herberg, 25, Sioux Falls, was driving the Pontiac. She was uninjured, as was the individual being interviewed by Trooper Knutson at the time of the crash.
 
Trooper Knutson received a cut on the back of his head that required medical treatment. No further information is immediately available about his injuries.
 
The Sioux Falls Police Department is investigating the crash.
