Pierre, S.D. - State prison inmates are helping the Department of Transportation clean up a busy roadside in Pierre.

Inmates from the South Dakota Women’s Prison will be picking up trash from the ditches along Garfield Avenue, also known as the Highway 14 and 83 Truck Bypass, beginning Wednesday, May 3rd. The work area runs from the truck bypass south to Highway 34 and then continues east to Farm Island. The inmates are expected to complete their work later this week.

The inmates have been involved in the project for the past several years.
